most people think grain is noise, but it’s the opposite. grain is light.
it hit the film and stuck, and the mark it left is the picture. there’s nothing under it.
a machine can copy how that looks, not what it is. one’s a drawing of the thing. the other is the thing.
every texture came off a real roll:
